Cosmetology does not cease to amaze with novelties. One of them relatively recently appeared in the price lists of beauty salons called yellow facial peeling. This procedure is gaining more and more fans, because, being quite gentle, it effectively solves many skin problems.

What is retinol cleansing (yellow peeling)?

Chemical peeling is called controlled damage to the epidermis, which activates protective and repair mechanisms in it. Natural healing begins, tissue regeneration occurs, which is visually manifested by skin rejuvenation.

Any peelings are divided into superficial, median and deep. Yellow peeling, which cosmetologists call retinol (retinoic), is also chemical and belongs to the surface-median. Nevertheless, its effect is so strong that its effectiveness is comparable to the deep.

It is generally accepted that the effect of yellow peeling is relatively mild, and therefore this procedure for cleansing the face can be shown to women with sensitive skin.

The essence of retinoic and retinol cleansing

Despite the fact that the names of the procedures are consonant, retinoic and retinol peeling are somewhat different from each other. Retinol is called peeling, which directly contains vitamin A, and retinoic is peeling based on its synthetic derivatives (retinoids). The difference between the processes occurring in the skin under the influence of these substances is significant.

  1. Retinol, penetrating the dermis, is converted into retinoic acid.It accumulates and, having reached the maximum concentration, starts the process of accelerated epidermal regeneration and collagen synthesis. Visually, this manifests itself in a sudden peeling of the skin. Having consumed acid, the epidermis restores reserves from the introduced retinol and the process repeats. Therefore, peeling after retinol peeling can occur in several stages and for a longer time.
  2. Retinoic acid, getting into the dermis, is consumed all at once. Therefore, the effect of the procedure comes faster. In addition, retinol is unstable under the influence of light and oxygen, unlike its synthetic derivatives.

Retinol peeling is preferable in that the skin itself regulates the processes occurring in it, and therefore the likelihood of complications is eliminated. After such a peeling, no burns, extreme redness occurs. It can be used on sensitive skin.

Interestingly, retinol almost does not stain the epidermis, and peeling with retinoic acid is usually called yellow.

Indications, when is it needed?

Retinoic acid cleansing is usually indicated for women over 35 years old whose skin is already losing elasticity and showing the first signs of aging.

Nevertheless, the procedure is not contraindicated for younger persons and can be assigned to solve such problems:

  • acne, wide pores and comedones;
  • traces of post-acne, scars after chickenpox and other skin defects;
  • a decrease in the tone of the dermis caused by a decrease in collagen production;
  • age spots, freckles;
  • hyperkeratosis;
  • uneven tone of the face.

Initially, yellow retinoic peeling was used to eliminate acne, but later drew attention to the excellent anti-aging effect. Therefore, young women are still recommended to resort to less aggressive peelings.

Training

As with any serious cosmetic intervention, and yellow peeling is such, retinoic rejuvenation should be carefully prepared. The complex of measures preceding the main action is aimed at softening the epithelium, removing its upper layer for deeper penetration of basic acids.

  1. The first visit to the salon will be exclusively advisory. They will tell you about the procedure, its effectiveness and possible complications. Contraindications will be voiced. The cosmetologist will determine the type of skin, listen to your wishes and explain what you really expect from the procedure.
  2. Then, for several days or even weeks (depending on age and dermatological problems), you will have to use special cosmetics containing fruit acids. You will also need daily softening of the epidermis with creams.
  3. Perhaps the preliminary stage will include a course of salon procedures, for example, light peels that carefully prepare the skin for the effects of the main “weapon”.
  4. In some cases, 2-3 lite format procedures can precede yellow peeling. With their help, the skin gets used to the action of retinoic acid.

At the preparatory stage, it is also undesirable to sunbathe and generally be in the sun without additional protective equipment. The preparation procedure lasts the longer, the older the woman and the rougher and problematic skin on her face. Young girls, often resorting to dry cleanings, may not need pre-peeling.

How is yellow peeling carried out

Just before the procedure, the beautician will also work a little on your face.

  1. Even if you came without makeup, you still have skin cleansed to remove grease and dust collected in the morning.
  2. After that, cosmetic Vaseline is applied to the skin around the eyes, eyelids and lips. This is done in order to prevent accidental peeling in these areas.
  3. The skin is pre-treated with a solution of glycolic acid for surface cleansing and removal of keratinized skin.
  4. Using a brush or directly with gloves on, the beautician will apply a composition with retinoic acid to the skin.

After applying the substance, you will have to lie down for several minutes to evaluate your sensations. Normally, there should be a feeling of heat spreading under the skin or a tingling sensation that does not cause much discomfort.

After making sure that everything goes according to plan, the doctor will let you go home. Right, with a yellow makeup on the face. Therefore, think in advance about how you will get back.

You can also do yellow peeling at home. To do this, buy retinoic acid and dilute with distilled water to a concentration of not more than 10%. The rest of the application protocol is the same as in the cabin.

Skin Care Tips After Cleansing

Returning home after a salon procedure, you have a few more hours to hold the mask on your skin. Duration depends on the sensitivity of the epidermis and the composition of the agent used. It can include only the main active substance or a whole complex of components. Therefore, the mask is left on the face from 4 to 12 hours. About when the composition will need to be removed, the cosmetologist will inform you.

After a specified period of time, rinse the product with plain water. Be prepared that right now there may be an unpleasant burning sensation. In a good salon, you must provide a special cream that you will need to use until the skin is completely renewed. Or, at least, give recommendations on how to lubricate the face during the recovery period. If you are left in ignorance, then buy Bepanten cream (not ointment!) And apply during the day as needed.

Recovery and skin care after

When cleaning is carried out with a quality product, the application technology and the professionalism of the master are only 20% of success. The remaining 80% - competent skin care is already at home.

What can not be done:

  1. Peel off flaky crusts. Do not do this in any case, even if you look very untidy. This can lead to uneven pigmentation after healing.
  2. Use abrasive products to accelerate exfoliation.
  3. Sunbathe during the entire recovery period and visit the solarium.
  4. Steam your face in any way. This means that it is necessary to exclude, including visiting the sauna, baths and taking a hot bath.
  5. Actively engage in sports, in order to avoid strong sweating. This can cause rashes.
  6. It is undesirable to swim in the pool and open water.

What can be done:

  1. Carefully cut off dead skin flakes with nail scissors.
  2. Wash with water, chamomile broth, cosmetic milk.
  3. Apply UV protective equipment before going out.

Many ladies note that during the recovery period, the skin turns red, and after that, exfoliation is uneven, due to which spots appear. Do not worry, this is normal and after a few days these unpleasant consequences should disappear.

In general, recovery takes from two days to two weeks. It all depends on the quality of the product used to clean and the condition of the skin. Of course, taking a two-week vacation at work for the sake of peeling is a pleasure available to few. But if possible, try to visit the beautician on Friday, and preferably on Thursday. Then the period of the most active peeling will take place on the weekend and by the beginning of the working week you will look, if not perfect, then quite bearable.

What effect?

Deciding to conduct a yellow peeling procedure, a woman expects to see a result that is at least relevant to costs. And usually you don’t have to give up. But it is worthwhile to understand that the effect depends on the susceptibility to the components, the age, severity of existing problems and the observance of precautions during the recovery period.

After the procedure described, you can count on:

  • lightening pigmentation of any nature;
  • reduction of manifestations of post-acne, scars, scars;
  • smoothing fine wrinkles;
  • visual rejuvenation of the skin;
  • color alignment;
  • reduction in the number of acne rashes;
  • toning the skin, improving the oval of the face.

The effect persists for a long time and, in the absence of serious age-related changes, there is no need to repeat the procedure.

Contraindications

Retinoic acid is a rather aggressive component that has the ability to penetrate into cells through the basement membrane. This means that the substance passes through the epidermis to the lower layers of the dermis, where it reaches the blood vessels. This is great in terms of deep stimulation of the skin to renew, but has certain consequences. So, retinoic acid penetrates freely into the bloodstream, which means it has a systemic effect, unlike most surface peels that act locally.

In view of the foregoing, yellow peeling should never be used during pregnancy and in the subsequent period of lactation!

Retinoic acid has a teratogenic effect on the fetus, i.e., leads to the appearance of malformations. To avoid adverse effects, women who have cleaned their face with this substance should not plan a pregnancy during the year.

In addition, yellow peeling is undesirable in such conditions:

  • acute inflammatory diseases;
  • any chronic diseases (due to the possibility of their exacerbation);
  • infectious diseases;
  • glaucoma and cataract.

Individual allergic reactions to the components of the product used in the salon or to tretinoin itself (retinoic acid) are also not excluded. Separately discuss with the beautician the possibility of cleansing if you use retinoids inside.

Please note that yellow peeling should not be done often. This procedure is rarely prescribed in courses. It is especially undesirable to get involved in this way of rejuvenation for owners of sensitive thin skin, as well as for young people. Usually, retinoic peeling is done no more than once every six months. If you are offered to take a course of several procedures, but you do not have serious skin problems, then think about whether they are trying to deceive you.

Possible complications

Due to the fact that tretinoin penetrates the circulatory system, one should not be surprised when a certain effect of its effect will be noticeable on other parts of the body. It is likely that after a while you will find peeling of the feet and hands, the area behind the ears or in other places. This is normal.

In addition, even with all of the above security measures, undesirable reactions and complications are not ruled out.

  1. These include, in particular, hyperpigmentation and burns.
  2. Often, women complain of severe burning sensation after removal of a substance that can be disturbing for a day or more. This condition is sometimes accompanied by fever and general malaise.
  3. The next or a day after cleaning, most likely, you will feel a strong tightness of the skin and excessive dryness. This is not dangerous, since the upper dry layer of the epidermis is no longer alive and is simply a protection for the rapidly renewing young.
  4. It is likely that having a predisposition to herpetic eruptions, you will have to survive a surge in virus activity. Therefore, it is better to report your problem to the beautician in advance and consult about the need to take general strengthening agents at the preparatory stage.

Beauticians also warn that the effect of yellow peeling is most often positive, but it is impossible to predict an individual reaction. Therefore, there are examples of insufficient effectiveness of the procedure or exacerbation of existing problems.

Another complication is a rapidly empty wallet. Yellow peeling is an expensive procedure, and usually costs an order of magnitude more expensive than other chemical peels. The price varies depending on the region, the cost of the substance itself, the level of the salon and the skills of the master.Often, the "ceiling coefficient" creeps into the price component, which can increase the figure in the price list to cosmic heights. So, on the periphery, yellow peeling can be done for 1,500 rubles, and already in the capital - from 5,000 to 18,000 rubles.

Yellow peeling before and after

The network has enough women's forums where ladies who have experienced the delights of retinoic peeling share their impressions and photos before visiting the salon and after. Most of them are positive or even enthusiastic. Clients of beauty salons note that the skin has become lighter, looks thinner and more tender. Nasolabial folds, crow's feet near the eyes are smoothed out. The number of acne eruptions is significantly reduced, and comedones (“black dots”) temporarily disappear.

But deep wrinkles on the forehead and scars left after chickenpox or the fight against acne, usually cannot be completely destroyed. Also, traces of serious age-related changes on intensely aging skin cannot be eliminated in one procedure with any peels. And yellow in this matter, although a leader, but not a sorcerer.

In general, judging by the reviews, most women are satisfied with the result, and plan to repeat the procedure over the next year. But it is worth noting a certain percentage of negative reviews, associated mainly with severe burning and redness of the skin during the recovery phase. Often, women are dissatisfied with a long healing period. Nevertheless, many, having done the procedure once in the salon, decide to repeat it later at home.

Reviews

“I have been mentally preparing for yellow peeling for a long time. And the price bites, and the appearance is frightening ... I gathered my strength and went to the salon last spring. She laughed at herself for a long time - everything went perfectly! No particularly unpleasant sensations, I exfoliated in three days. And on the fourth she was already admiring the new skin. Smooth, smooth, pink. True, I had no particular problems. ”

Oksana, Yekaterinburg

“I will remember the retinoic peeling for a long time ... It was so hot and burned that I hated everything in the world. On the third day, herpes crawled out, which I had not remembered for five years. Peeling lasted about six days and only I know what it cost me to keep my hands to myself and not to rip off this “scale”. The effect is excellent - the skin has acquired an even color, small annoying wrinkles have noticeably decreased. But once again, I have no desire to go through this. ”

Svetlana, Moscow

“This is not the first time I've been doing yellow peeling. And it always seems that three layers of skin come off me. The procedure began in order to remove scars after acne. The first application did not bring much improvement, although the quality of the skin pleased me. The second time was more effective. I plan to repeat the peeling in another six months. "
