To prepare the dish you will need:

  • cabbage - 400-500 g;
  • pork or beef - 300 g;
  • onions - 1-2 pcs.;
  • carrots –1 pcs.;
  • potatoes - 4 pcs.;
  • vegetable oil - 2 tbsp. l .;
  • tomato paste - 2 tbsp. l .;
  • garlic –1–2 teeth;
  • sugar - 2 tsp;
  • salt, spices - to taste;
  • water - 1.5 cups.

Tip. To let the cabbage languish, but not burn, use any thick-walled dishes: stewpan, frying pan, cauldron. I am cooking this dish in a cast-iron duck bowl.

Step by step recipe:

  1. I clean the vegetables. Onion shredded in half rings. Coarse carrots on a coarse grater. I chop the garlic with a knife.
  2. I wash the meat, dry it with a paper towel and cut it into pieces the size of a matchbox.
  3. I put the container on fire, pour vegetable oil, warm it up well. Gently spread the pieces of meat and quickly fry.
  4. Then I fall asleep onions, carrots and garlic. Stir, leave for a couple of minutes.
  5. I cut the potato into medium-sized cubes. I send it to the rest of the ingredients.
  6. I pour salt and spices. I usually have it: paprika, black pepper, bay leaf, hops-suneli. I am mixing.
  7. I pour a glass of water. Cover, turn down the heat and leave for about 20 minutes.
  8. Shredded cabbage, but not too thin so that it does not boil into porridge, and add to the meat and vegetables.
  9. Dissolve tomato paste and sugar in half a glass of water. I pour it into the ducklings and the carcass 20-25 minutes until tender.

On a note. You can also use sauerkraut instead of fresh. In this case, simply reduce the amount of salt in the recipe.
