Hormonal imbalance, fetal growth in the womb are manifested by edema, varicose veins. Troxevasin is used during pregnancy to reduce negative changes in blood vessels, to avoid impairment of blood circulation. It is necessary to take into account recommendations for the use of dosage forms of the drug and its analogues.

Can I use troxevasin during pregnancy?

After conception, the placenta produces more progesterone, which affects the activity of estrogens, cortisol, androgens. An imbalance of hormones reduces the strength and elasticity of the vascular walls. The volume of circulating blood from conception to childbirth increases 2 times. The filling of the veins increases, the walls are stretched, the valves weaken, the blood stagnates.

Endocrine changes, an increase in weight and load on the cardiovascular system in connection with the bearing of the fetus lead to a deterioration of the state of the vessels. On the legs, chest and abdomen, blue veins and blue-violet stars become more noticeable.

Troxevasin capsules are intended for the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), varicose veins, hemorrhoids.

Clinical studies of the effect of the drug on the fetus and child have not been conducted. Recommendations for use before and after childbirth are based on a study of the pharmacological properties of troxerutin.

Information of drug manufacturers on the possibility of using Troxevasin in pregnant women:

  • Capsules are allowed to take in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. In 1 trimester, the drug is not prescribed orally.
  • Gel 2%. There is no description in the corresponding section of the instructions for use.

Drugs with troxerutin are prescribed by the doctor, carefully weighing the pros and cons. The doctor compares the expected effect of therapy for a woman and the likely risk to the fetus.

Composition and release forms

The active ingredient of the drug is troxerutin (trihydroxyethylrutoside), a semi-synthetic substance made from bioflavonoid (rutin). The raw materials are obtained from the citrus peel and fruits of the Japanese Sophora. Launches Troxevasin company Balkanpharma (Bulgaria).

The content of troxerutin in 1 capsule is 300 mg. The active substance in the form of a powder is contained under a yellow shell. Auxiliary ingredients: lactose, magnesium stearate. The shell contains gelatin and dyes. Capsules of cylindrical shape are packed in blisters of 10 pcs.

Gel Troxevasin 2% in an aluminum tube contains 40 g. Troxerutin in this amount of the drug is 20 mg. The gel base differs from the ointment in that it is not vaseline that is used, but oils. Therefore, the product is more easily distributed on the skin, absorbed faster.

Indications for use

Troxerutin helps with a decrease in the tone of the vascular walls, weakening of the valves of the veins. The active ingredient of the product prevents the clumping of red blood cells, reduces the likelihood of blood clots (blood clots) forming inside the capillaries. Troxevasin stabilizes the state of venous and lymphatic vessels, prevents swelling of the legs by reducing the flow of fluid into the tissue.

Venotonic drug has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Troxevasin is taken orally for diseases of the veins, circulatory disorders:

  • a feeling of heaviness, pain, swelling, leg cramps due to varicose veins, CVI;
  • pain syndrome, edema, hematoma, muscle cramps of post-traumatic origin;
  • trophic ulcers of the skin resulting from varicose veins;
  • inflammation of the skin over the affected vessels (varicose dermatitis);
  • hemorrhoids with pain, bleeding from the anus, nodes;
  • phlebothrombosis of superficial veins;
  • thrombophlebitis, peripheralis.

The gel copes better with the consequences of negative changes in the venous network in the initial stages of CVI and varicose veins of the lower extremities. The tool is applied when the appearance of edema of the feet (s), pain, severity, leg muscle cramps. The positive effect of the treatment of varicose veins is enhanced when wearing compression hosiery.

Troxevasin Neo is a combination drug. The list of his testimonies includes the same diseases and conditions. The drug better helps with hematomas, spider veins and nets, thrombophlebitis.

During pregnancy, it is often diagnosed not true, but functional varicose veins (temporary changes). After birth, the elasticity of the vascular walls is almost always restored. The reverse development does not occur with a hereditary predisposition to varicose veins, congenital pathologies of venous valves, and weakness of the vascular membrane. Then the disease begins to progress vigorously during pregnancy.

Troxevasin is included in the complex therapy of lymphatic edema and other vascular disorders, prescribed after sclerotherapy of the affected veins. The active substance reduces the intensity of inflammation, improves tissue nutrition.

Preparations with troxerutin in any form of release are not used for edema caused by diseases of the heart and kidneys.

With the sudden appearance of severe pain, rapidly increasing edema, cyanosis of the legs, immediate consultation with a doctor is required. These signs may be due to venous thrombosis. The patient needs emergency medical care.

Instructions for use at different times

Despite the significant differences between dosage forms, Troxevasin capsules are often called tablets in everyday life, and gel is called ointment.The drug in the form of capsules or tablets is taken orally. The gel lubricates the affected area.

Domestic medicines are almost 1.5–2 times cheaper than imported ones.

The tool can be used externally during pregnancy and during lactation. Absorption of components into the systemic circulation is negligible (when applied to intact skin).
