Arcoxia tablets appeared on the pharmaceutical market not so long ago, however, they are already in quite high demand now. This drug is already actively used in the therapeutic treatment of various diseases of the joints and intraarticular tissues, which are often accompanied by degenerative changes and dystrophic disorders.

Arcoxia is a second-generation advanced COX-2 inhibitor. The main active compound in this drug is etoricoxib.

Depending on the purpose of use, the pharmaceutical company produces the medicine in tablet form with various dosages:

And also in the component composition there are a number of additional compounds: lactose, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide. Tablets are dispensed in cardboard packs and blisters, protected by a film coating.

Pharmacological action, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

This therapeutic medication belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that have a pronounced analgesic effect. At the same time, the modern tool is characterized by the most positive safety profile. Arcoxia has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. The active composition of the drug stops the spread of substances that cause pain and inflammation.

After internal administration of painkillers, 100% bioavailability of the drug is noted. The maximum concentration of the main active compound is observed one hour after application. Instructions for use and dosage

Determination of the required dosage occurs on an individual basis as directed by a specialist. The standard amount of this medication is one tablet per day, and the duration of therapeutic treatment is not more than ten days.

The required dose is determined on the basis of the patient's history and questioning:

  • with osteoarthrosis, 60 mg is prescribed, however, due to the pain syndrome, the amount of the drug may increase;
  • patients with rheumatoid arthritis are recommended to take Arcoxia 90 mg tablets;
  • for relief of pain discomfort, as well as for acute gouty gouty arthritis, patients should take 120 mg of the drug;
  • in the case of painful sensations of a chronic course, 60 mg will be required.

With functional disorders of the cardiovascular system, patients are prescribed the shortest possible courses of therapy, which reduce the likelihood of adverse reactions.

During pregnancy and lactation

According to the instructions for use, Arcoxia is not prescribed for pregnant women. This limitation is due to the lack of clinical studies that could confirm the complete safety of the drug. According to the results of clinical trials in animals, toxic effects on the fetus and reproductive system were revealed. However, the potential harm from its use during pregnancy remains unknown.

As well as Arkoxia tablets are contraindicated during pregnancy due to the fact that during the last trimester the suppression of uterine contractility and premature closure of the ductus arteriosus are not excluded. In addition, there are no results of clinical trials that would confirm the release of the active substance Arkoksia along with breast milk. Based on this, therapy with this drug involves the cessation of lactation.

Alcohol compatibility

The compatibility of this drug with drinks that contain ethanol is rated as unsafe. Based on this, Arkoxia tablets are not recommended to be taken with alcoholic beverages. This is due to the fact that the combination with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs makes them more toxic. As a result, the risk of developing severe adverse reactions is significantly increased, and the liver is also exposed to increased stress.

Drug interaction

According to the official instructions for use, Arcoxia may not be combined with certain drugs.

Therefore, before starting therapy, you should inform your doctor about other therapeutic agents:

  1. The simultaneous use of cyclosporin or tacrolimus with the described medicinal product significantly increases the risk of developing neuroticity.

  8. Arcoxia inhibits the elimination of lithium by the renal system, resulting in an increase in its concentration in blood plasma.
  9. The use of this drug with digoxin is allowed. But this requires control of the toxic effects of the latter.
  10. When used concomitantly with rifampicin, the concentration of Arcoxia in the blood plasma is significantly reduced. This interaction can cause relapse.

And also there are a number of other conditions in which patients require close monitoring and periodic laboratory blood tests.
