Eau de Parfum has long captured a segment of the market of fragrant products, almost taking it away from perfumes, which is associated with a wide variety of aromas and storage features of the goods. But this form of production of created odors also has its drawbacks.

What is Eau de Parfum?

A similar type of aroma has the Eau de Parfum marking, which can be seen not only in French bottles, since such a marking has the international designation of eau de parfum. All odorous cosmetics contain water, oils and substances that are responsible only for aroma. But with all the similarities of the ingredients, they give a completely different effect.

Eau de Parfum is a daily use. The most important and brightest in it are the middle notes. Thus, during the day, the shades of odor differ from the originally applied composition. But you need to use the product carefully, otherwise the bouquet will turn out too bright.

Persistence and Concentration

According to the level of resistance of perfumed water on the skin, this index takes second place after perfume. EdP labeled products should be applied carefully so as not to get too strong a smell. It’s enough for them to create a cloud of 2-3 portions and enter it. Then the particles will settle on the entire surface of the body, which will extend the time of “socks” of the aroma.

Perfume composition in the funds takes from 15 to 20 percent, and this is enough to stay on the skin for about 8 hours. And the most noticeable will be the heart notes.

Important! When choosing a perfume, it is advisable to slightly curse the aroma and let it open.

Unlike other types of perfumes

There are several types of similar products. The most saturated and persistent are perfumes. They contain 15-40% of essential oils, the rest is highly concentrated alcohol. In such compositions, the emphasis is on loop notes. The durability of perfumes can reach several days, therefore they are recommended to be used in cool time and for evening events. In warm weather, such a smell can cause lightheadedness.

Another type of perfume is toilet water. It is available only in the form of a spray and is suitable for any time of the year and its day. Now this type of product is most popular because of its versatility. The concentration of aromatic substances in them reaches only 8-15%, and the alcohol content is 80%, which allows you to make the top notes most noticeable and almost completely hide the loop. As a result, a very light and pleasant smell corresponding to a hot day and a day's walk can be achieved.

There is also cologne in which only 5% of the aromatic components are present. It is made on the basis of 70-80% alcohol, because its resistance is low. Most often, this type of perfumery has a masculine fresh or woody smell.

There are other similar compositions that differ from eau de toilette, cologne, perfumes, and perfumed formulations as intended. These are products designed to care for your body. They suggest a light aroma that lasts on the skin for only two hours. The concentration of aromatic substances in such products barely reaches 1%, and alcohol is not contained at all.

Is it possible to compensate for quality by quantity

Perfume gives a persistent and bright aroma when used even in small quantities. Therefore, the need to apply more than a few drops to the skin does not arise, which does not prolong the durability, but only does not allow the smell to open to the notes of the heart.

Important! When using other types of perfumes, it is impossible to achieve a persistent smell with a large amount of funds.

This is due to the concentration of alcohol and oils in the composition, as well as the different purpose of the products. Created for top notes, eau de toilette is not able to hold as much as perfume, even when applied abundantly to the skin. Therefore, it is worth initially choosing a perfume that satisfies with its quality and durability.

What lasts longer perfumed water or toilet

The stability of the perfume depends on many factors. Fundamental is the concentration of oils and alcohol. But this principle does not always work.

How long does the characteristic of smells matter? Woody and musky aromas last longer on the skin than fruity and fresh. Therefore, the former are often used as a basis for creating products.

The persistence of perfumed water can also be associated with the personal data of each person. The same flavors are revealed in completely different ways for each consumer. Therefore, in some cases it can be persistent, in others it can quickly disappear.

Sometimes people get used to the smell or choose it so perfectly for themselves that they don’t hear its presence after a short time. Here it is better to ask someone close to you whether the shade is noticeable. Often the answer is yes.

Eau de Parfum contains more aromatic substances than toilet water, which is why it is considered more resistant. But there are exceptions to any rule, so it is advisable to evaluate two specific smells, rather than perfumes.

The composition of toilet water

All such products contain only water, alcohol of one concentration or another and aromatic additives. Components differ only in the quantity and ratio of substances used. Smells are also built according to the general principle of the pyramid, which became possible due to the difference in the time of evaporation of essences and oils.

The composition of such a "construction" of the smell includes three steps:

  1. Top (head) notes are shades that come from a bottle of aroma or are felt in the first seconds of application. They remain most vivid for 10–20 minutes, but are heard longer in the composition of toilet water. Usually they are not more than 20% of the total aromatic composition. For such purposes, add fruit or citrus oils - orange, grapefruit, honeysuckle, raspberries.
  2. Middle (heart) notes - the second impression of the same fragrance. They are called the core, because it determines the nature of the smell. Perfumed water is directed to such notes. They sound about 5-8 hours. The effect is achieved due to the soft floral or oriental smells of roses, coriander, jasmine, sage.
  3. Base (loop) notes are the most numerous (about 40–50% of the composition) and the brightest. In perfume they sound solo, and in all other perfumes merge with the heart. Their resistance begins from 10 hours and can last several days. It is a light scent that stays on clothes and bedding after sleep. For such notes, heavy woody or tart oriental smells are suitable - vanilla, musk, resins, amber or leather.

The created pyramid is considered a classic composition of the aroma. It was used by perfumers of antiquity. But in the modern world they often deviate from standards, which allows you to create new sounds for existing combinations. Smells are not revealed in the traditional sequence, which adds some piquancy to the image. This distinguishes niche perfumes from the popular.

The choice of the type of perfume should come not only from your own preferences, but also based on the tasks of a particular fragrance. The same smell is not suitable for an evening event and a day walk, because a person does not wear a jogging dress in the park. Perfumes help reflect our character, competently complete the created image. Therefore, she should pay no less attention than shoes or a handbag.
