Chicken pox is a viral disease that occurs mainly in children. The peculiarity of the ailment is the appearance of small pimples, which gradually begin to fill with liquid. Today we’ll figure out whether it’s possible to swim with chickenpox.

What is chickenpox?

Chickenpox in children occurs in mild and moderate form. The incubation period lasts on average up to 14 days.

Chickenpox in an adult is very difficult. The mortality risk is 40 times greater than in children under the age of 12 years. The incubation period in adults lasts up to 21 days.

With chickenpox, small pimples appear on the body that look like a mosquito bite. During the day, rashes become larger, body temperature rises.

On day 2 - 3, acne turns into papules that are filled with a clear liquid. Severe itching appears.

You can not comb papules for several reasons:

  • there is a risk of infection and suppuration;
  • deep scars and scars may remain on the skin, which can be removed only with the help of special procedures (laser removal, skin resurfacing).

The period of active rashes lasts, on average, 3 to 5 days.

Skin Care Rules for Disease

During illness, the most important thing is to prevent infection of papules.

To do this, you must follow these rules:

  1. If the patient feels satisfactory, he has no fever, then you can take a bath or shower.
  2. Bed sheets should be changed daily and clean clothes worn.
  3. You need to cut your nails short.
  4. Treat rashes with drugs (Fukortsin, Tsindol, brilliant green).

If you do not follow these rules, you can easily enter the infection into papules. This will cause suppuration and fever. In such a situation, one cannot do without the help of a surgeon.

Is it possible to swim with chickenpox for adults and children

Is it possible to bathe a child with chickenpox? Pediatricians of the old school are still inclined to a negative answer. But time goes on, modern medicine looks at this problem differently.

If a child feels well during chickenpox, bathing him is not only possible, but also necessary.

The reasons for this conclusion are as follows:

  • the body is cleansed of sweat, dust, dirt;
  • water quickly stops itching;
  • bathing is one of the main ways to avoid getting infections in the papules.

Chickenpox in adults is difficult. As a rule, in the first days, body temperature rises to 39 - 40 degrees. During this period, doctors do not advise arranging water procedures. But as soon as the patient's condition stabilizes, you can swim.

How and when to take water treatments

Washing with chickenpox is allowed from the very beginning of the disease. But there is one condition: the lack of heat.

The recommendations are as follows:

  1. It is not worth bathing in hot water, this can increase itching.
  2. It is better to abandon cosmetics (gels, shampoos, scrubs). Baby soap is suitable.
  3. Using a washcloth is also prohibited - you can accidentally hurt and damage the integrity of papules.
  4. Better to take a shower than bask in the bath.
  5. The bathing process should be short-lived (2 - 4 minutes).
  6. After water procedures, you need to get your body wet with a clean towel, and even better, use a cotton sheet for these purposes.

You can’t visit the pool, sauna, bathhouse. There is a risk not only to infect everyone around, but also to worsen one’s own condition. Such procedures will not benefit, but will only increase itching and prolong the healing period of papules.

Swimming in the sea, if there are no other vacationers nearby, pediatricians are allowed. But it is worth considering that seawater is quite salty, which will cause additional itching.

Features of washing your hair

Rashes during chickenpox can be on the head, in the hair.

The rules for washing this part of the body are as follows:

  • it is better to avoid the use of shampoos, and even more so masks, conditioners, lotions;
  • if the scalp itches, you can use laundry soap (preferably tar);
  • hair should be wrapped in a terry towel and allowed to dry (do not blow dry with a hairdryer).

After water procedures, do not smear papules on the head with green. Washing it from the hair will be very difficult, even a few procedures will not be enough. It is better to replace zelenka with the Tsindol suspension.

When can I switch to the normal swimming mode?

It is recommended to bathe the baby fully in a week after the disappearance of the last signs of the disease. Experts say that chickenpox often has a latent course, and after 5 to 6 days, the rash can again recur.

The chickenpox virus is volatile, so it affects both adults and children. One of the main symptoms of the disease is a rash that covers the patient’s body. When a lot of papules appear, itching occurs, which is difficult to get rid of. The usual bathing procedure can help.
