Traps for cockroaches, regardless of their methods of action, should not pose any danger to human health, but must be effective against "uninvited guests." There are many options on sale that are worth a closer look.

The most effective traps for cockroaches and their characteristics

Almost all of the devices presented below operate on a similar principle, with the exception of the first. We open her rating.

Foresight

The Forsyth trap is a completely primitive cardboard construction with a bait inside. A sticky mixture is evenly distributed on its surface. Insects, moving on an attractive smell, fall into the trap through small slots, find themselves inside and stick.

The advantages of this device:

  • lack of danger to people and animals;
  • efficiency even with a small number of insects;
  • profitability;
  • ease of use;
  • affordable cost;
  • quite a long period of use - more than 7 weeks.

The principle of using the device is simple:

  1. Open the packaging and gently bend the cardboard structure along the planned lines.
  2. Remove the protective film.
  3. Put inside the pill that comes with the kit.
  4. Close the product.

The design is placed in the habitats of insects and their possible appearance. Once the device is full, it is replaced with a new one.

Raptor

The Raptor trap works on the principle of a chain reaction.The cockroach eats the poison bait and transfers the poison to its colony, destroying it. The design is a small plastic washer with holes for the penetration of pests.

The main active ingredient is chlorpyrifos. It causes suffocation and affects the digestive system of the insect. ½ hour after contact with the bait, the pest dies. His relatives infected from him lose their motor ability, which leads to death.

A population of medium or small numbers dies within 14 to 20 days.

Traps need to be changed regularly, as immunity is developed to the dried bait in young individuals. Also, "Raptor" will not be able to cope with too large a population, since not all individuals come into contact with infected people. Therefore, in such cases, it is recommended to additionally use baits with boric acid and special crayons.

Kombat

“Combat” is also a primitive tool, which is a plastic container with a poisoned treat for insect invaders. The package sells several at once. They are separated from one another and placed in the likely habitat of uninvited guests. For 10 m², it is enough to use up to 4 containers.

The poison causes an epidemic in the colonies of cockroaches, and they die with their offspring. The insecticide affects even larvae that are insensitive to traditional means. It is not addictive, so it can be used for a long time.

After 3 months, the device must be replaced to prevent the invasion of neighboring cockroaches.

An insecticidal trap called "Clean House" does not lose its properties for 2 months, does not emit harmful fumes and does not pose a danger to people and pets.

The package sells 6 traps, this amount is enough for an area of 16 square meters. m. On the bottom side there is a Velcro, with which traps can be reliably placed even on vertical planes.

A cockroach, swallowing poison, immediately becomes its carrier and is able to infect up to fifty of its relatives. Mass pestilence begins on 2 - 3 days.

Dohlox

The Dohlox trap has the same operating principle as the previous ones.

Devices are placed in inaccessible secluded places:

  • next to the bin;
  • at the baseboards and under them;
  • near the pipes;
  • under the kitchen;
  • from the end of the stove and refrigerator;
  • behind the toilet.

Adhesive double-sided tape allows you to fix the trap on any surface.

The tool is inexpensive, safe for pets and effectively destroys pests.

Taiga

The devices are rounded containers made of plastic with insect entrances. Inside the parasites, a tasty but poisonous bait awaits, after eating which the cockroach does not die, but returns to its population and infects others.

Consumption rate - 3 - 4 pcs. per 10 square meters m. Validity - 5 - 6 months.

To combat a large colony of cockroaches over a large area, it is better to use traps in combination with insecticidal gels. This will significantly increase the effectiveness of these funds.

How to make a do-it-yourself trap

Those who like to do everything on their own can build a trap for cockroaches with their own hands.

Glue trap

You can get rid of uninvited guests using a homemade device.

For its manufacture such materials will be required:

  • a piece of cardboard or plywood (approximate dimensions are 15 by 15 cm);
  • Double-sided tape;
  • bait - a piece of meat, cheese or something sweet.

The cardboard is glued around the perimeter with tape, and in the middle they put a tasty bait. It is best to use a trap at night, as insect activity increases at this time. They try to get to the bait, but stick to the tape.

Such traps will not help to completely destroy pests, as a new generation is constantly growing from eggs. But to regulate the number of insects with their help is quite possible.

From cans

You can make a trap out of the can.

Necessary materials:

  • half-liter glass jar;
  • piece of cardboard;
  • glue "Moment";
  • petroleum jelly;
  • leftover food.

Sequencing:

  1. Cut a narrow strip of sufficient length from the cardboard.
  2. Glue one tip to the neck, lower the second to the ground from the outside so that the Prussians can get into the jar.
  3. Lubricate the jar with Vaseline inside. For lack of it, you can use sunflower oil. So the surface will become slippery and the insects will not be able to get out.
  4. At the bottom, put a ring of smoked sausage or pour a little beer.

Cockroaches climb inside the cardboard strip, but cannot get out, since the surface is very slippery. The trap needs to be cleaned every 3 to 4 days. It is advisable to periodically lubricate the inner surface of the can with petroleum jelly, as the old layer dries up.

How to make a bottle

Making a trap out of a bottle is easy. A two-liter plastic container must be cut so that the lower part is 2 times larger than the upper. The top with the hole must be turned over and inserted into the bottom. The container should be filled with water, and the remaining surface greased with oil. Dip pieces of food with good buoyancy into the water. You can pour in a bottle not water, but fragrant broth.

But the capacity of such a trap is quite small, in addition, the neck does not allow the smell of food to pass through.

Homemade Boric Acid Trap

Boric acid is an antiseptic safe for humans and animals, and deadly poison for cockroaches. Only 2 mg of powder in the gastrointestinal tract of the insect is fatal.

Therefore, the main thing is to come up with a way in which intruders can be forced to eat this poisonous substance.

There are 2 options:

  1. Boil the egg, separate the yolk and mix it with 30 g of boric acid powder. Blind miniature balls. If the mass is too thick and poorly molded, you can add a little vegetable oil. Yellow balls should be scattered in places of active movement of insects.
  2. Combine powder, flour and powdered sugar in equal proportions. Add vanillin to the tip of the knife. Knead the dough by adding a little water. Put a “treat” on a piece of paper with a teaspoon and put in the places where cockroaches are most crowded.

For the remedy to work, you need to deprive food pests. To do this, you need to take out the trash in a timely manner, clean the kitchen and hide the food.

Boric acid baits can be used to equip traps in glass containers, bottles or cardboard houses.

Electronic and ultrasonic cockroach traps

On the shelves of shops you can also find electric traps. They are compact plastic devices inside which the bait is located. The device is connected to the mains, and individuals that fall into it die from the current. However, with such devices you need to be especially careful if there are kids or pets in the house.

Ultrasonic devices do not catch insects, but only scare them away, as manufacturers assure. However, cockroaches, unlike mosquitoes, do not communicate using ultrasound, so such devices against them are ineffective.

The Prussians simply ignore the low-power ultrasound. Powerful devices, indeed, can affect the nervous system of cockroaches. Their behavior will change from this, but they are unlikely to leave somewhere. In addition, such devices adversely affect humans and pets.

Numerous reviews confirm that ultrasonic repellers do not work. Therefore, it is better to use gels, aerosols and traps that are less hazardous to humans and their pets. This will immediately give noticeable results.

Insect Prevention

Preventive measures are simple.

It is enough to follow these simple tips:

  • Store food in tightly closed containers. Remove all perishable food in the refrigerator.On the dining table should never be leftover food, and on the floor - crumbs or drops of sweet drinks. It is better to wash the dishes immediately after eating.
  • Wipe the bathroom and sink regularly so that no water remains in them. One of the favorite habitats and feeding of these parasites is the kitchen sink, where they can eat and drink at the same time.
  • Keep clean the places where pets eat. Remove leftover food from their bowls.
  • Close up all the cracks in the floor, put mosquito nets and ventilation holes.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and in other rooms, regularly clean and ventilate the rooms.

Compliance with basic hygiene standards eliminates the likelihood of cockroaches. However, sometimes uninvited guests enter the apartment from unscrupulous neighbors. In such cases, the use of special insecticidal agents is indispensable.
