Clotrimazole vaginal cream 2% contains in 100 g of the total mass 2 g of the active ingredient, concomitant and filling ingredients, 1% clotrimazole cream contains 1 g of the active substance.

The drug suppresses vital activity:

  • pathogenic fungi;
  • protozoa, pathogens, giving a positive Gram stain test, and anaerobic microorganisms.

The drug enters the bloodstream in the amount of 3 - 10% of the total amount of the used drug, while maintaining the ability to suppress the vital activity of pathogenic cultures, for 2 to 3 days, then it breaks down into simple components and is excreted from the body.

Why is Clotrimazole prescribed?

Clotrimazole helps with fungal diseases of the skin and mucous membranes caused by infection and vital activity in seeded areas by pathogens, pathogenic fungi:

  • multicolored lichen, erythrasma;
  • genital infections caused by Candida fungi: candida vulvovaginitis, trichomoniasis;
  • mycoses, in a complicated form, secondary pyoderma;
  • thrush.

Cream Instructions

Instructions for use contain instructions for preparatory procedures, treatment rules:

  • before applying the cream, it is necessary to wash the affected areas of the skin, or intimate places with a detergent, preferably baby soap, since a high concentration of alkali in an antibacterial safe guard or laundry soap leaves an alkaline reaction in the form of a protective layer on the seeded surface of the skin and mucous membrane, weakening the aggressive ability of the drug in relation to pathogens;
  • the cream is applied by rubbing with gentle pressure on infected, pre-treated areas, from 2 to 3 times during the day (depending on the spread and severity of the infection), capturing the adjacent areas, to eliminate the possible spread of microorganisms to healthy areas of the body;
  • on the nail plate, the cream is applied after baths with potassium permanganate, capturing the area around the nail, you can apply the cream in a thick layer and leave the application for a day, applying a bandage and fixing it with a bactericidal patch;
  • in the treatment of foot fungus and in the area between the fingers after applying the cream, put on clean cotton socks;
  • the full course of treatment is 4 weeks, improvements occur during the first week of the procedure;
  • since pathogenic organisms have a high degree of reproducibility and vitality, and intimate places represent a beneficial environment, one spore of a fungus or microorganism cell is necessary for their further development and vital activity, which will lead to the resumption of the disease;
  • at the end of treatment and in the absence of irritating symptoms, it is necessary to continue the procedure for the next 2 weeks for the purpose of prevention;
  • for genital infections, before dosing, it is necessary to douche using mild disinfectants or a weak solution of clotrimazole, after which the vaginal cream, applied in an amount of 5 g on a sterile swab, is introduced into the vagina, leaving it for 24 hours, the procedure is repeated 3 times;
  • at the same time, the external genitalia are treated with a cream to prevent the spread of infection;
  • after removing the swab, douching is performed.

The treatment procedures are not performed during the period of menstruation, it is necessary to wait 2 to 3 days after the termination of the cycle.

During treatment, sexual contact is undesirable, otherwise it is necessary to use reliable personal protective equipment.

When resuming signs of the disease, it is necessary to conduct a second examination in order to clarify the reliability of the correct diagnosis and consult a doctor for new appointments.

To exclude the resumption of the disease, it is necessary to observe the rules of personal hygiene.

During pregnancy and lactation

During pregnancy, during treatment, the cream is injected directly into the vagina without the use of a tampon.
