Natural dried fruit compote quenches thirst well, replenishes the reserves of vitamins and minerals, energizes. This drink is tastier and much healthier than soda water and store juices. It can be included in the diet menu and offered even to small children.

Classic dried fruit compote with sugar

A drink made according to a traditional recipe perfectly quenches thirst and reduces hunger. However, it should be remembered for its high calorie content: in addition to regular sugar, compote contains a lot of glucose contained in dried fruits themselves.

Structure:

  • 7 liters of drinking water;
  • 500 g of dried apples;
  • 250 g of dried pears;
  • 150 g dried apricots;
  • 150 g of prunes;
  • 320 g of granulated sugar;
  • 6 g of citric acid.

Cooking steps:

  1. Dried fruits are cleaned of various debris, washed thoroughly under a tap in a colander and dried on a cloth towel. It is better to pre-soak a purchased set of dried fruits in warm water for 20 minutes in order to get rid of harmful substances, which are often used for processing.
  2. Pour water into a wide enameled pan and bring to a boil.
  3. At first, more dense pears and apples are sent to boiling water. Cook for 20 minutes over low heat.
  4. Add dried apricots, prunes, citric acid and sugar. Compote is cooked in a closed container for another quarter hour, sometimes stirring occasionally.
  5. The brewed beverage is removed from the stove. Wrap the pan with a thick cloth and leave at room temperature for 2 hours.
  6. Ready compote is filtered or poured in circles directly with fruit.

Tip: the taste of the classic compote can be diversified by adding a few buds of cloves or a pinch of cinnamon powder at the end of cooking.

How to cook dried fruit compote after boiling?

During the preparation of compote, you must strictly observe the cooking time. If you exceed this period, dried fruits will lose most of the beneficial substances.

 

The hardest dried fruits - pears and apples - are laid in the pan in the first place. They are cooked for 30–35 minutes. Heat treatment of other types of dried fruits should not exceed 15 minutes. Raisins are put in compote 5 minutes before readiness.

After brewing, the drink must be infused for at least 2 hours. During this period, the taste of compote is revealed, it becomes more aromatic and rich.

The correct proportions of water and dried fruits

In the process of cooking, dried fruits increase by 1.5–2 times, therefore, it is necessary to select a capacious container and prepare a sufficient amount of water. For 1 g of ingredients, 6-7 liters of liquid is required.

The proportions of the components are also important. If compote is cooked with apples, they should make up approximately 50% of all dried fruits. The remaining species are taken approximately equally.

Sugar-free drink for children

This compote is ideal not only for baby food. It can be included in the diet for weight loss and normalization of the digestive system.

Would need:

  • 3 l of filtered water;
  • 200 g of dried apples;
  • 100 g of dried pears;
  • 100 g of prunes.

Cooking process:

  1. The dry ingredients are washed and soaked for 20 minutes.
  2. Apples and pears are dipped in boiling water.
  3. After 15 minutes, prunes are added. Boil another quarter hour.
  4. Stewed fruit is cooled on the table for 3 hours and poured into glasses.

Dried fruit compote with pumpkin

Thanks to the addition of pumpkin, the compote acquires an original rich taste.

You will need:

  • 4.5 liters of water;
  • 220 g pumpkin pulp;
  • 250 g dried apricots;
  • 120 g of rosehip berries;
  • 160 g of sugar;
  • 2 g ground cinnamon.

Step by step recipe:

  1. Pumpkin is diced.
  2. Dried apricots and rose hips are thoroughly rinsed.
  3. Water is poured into the pan, brought to a boil, sugar is added and the dogrose is lowered. The berries are boiled for 15 minutes.
  4. Spread pumpkin pulp, dried apricots and cinnamon. Boil another 15 minutes.
  5. Before use, the compote is insisted by wrapping the pan with a towel for 2 hours.

With honey

Instead of granulated sugar, it’s more beneficial to use a natural sweetener. Honey compote attracts with its aroma and pleasant enveloping taste.

List of ingredients:

  • 2 l of purified water;
  • 100 g of dried apples;
  • 30 g of dried cherries;
  • 30 g dried apricots;
  • 30 g pears;
  • 150 g of honey.

Cooking method:

  1. Dried fruits are thoroughly washed.
  2. Apples with pears are placed in a pot of boiling water.
  3. After 20 minutes, add cherries and dried apricots.
  4. Compote is again brought to a boil and cooked for another quarter hour.
  5. The finished drink is cooled to a warm state at room conditions.
  6. The compote is sweetened with honey and mixed thoroughly to completely disperse this component.

With raisins

The taste of this compote returns to childhood and school years. It was such a drink that was served in Soviet canteens.

To cook the compote, you will need:

  • drinking water - 3 l;
  • dry apples - 200 g;
  • dry pears - 50 g;
  • prunes - 50 g;
  • Uryuk - 50 g;
  • dark raisins - 50 g.

Cooking Technology:

  1. Dried ingredients are washed and soaked in cool water for half an hour.
  2. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil and first lower the pears and apples. Boil a quarter of an hour.
  3. Add prunes and apricot. Cook over minimal heat for the same amount of time.
  4. Pour raisins, mix.
  5. After 5 minutes, the stove is turned off, and the compote is removed to insist on the night.
  6. Before use, the drink is filtered through a gauze filter.

Dried fruit compote with apples in a slow cooker

A drink prepared using kitchen equipment is tastier and healthier. Compote of dried fruits in a slow cooker does not boil, but languishes, so all valuable substances are stored in it.

Required Components:

  • 150 g of dried apples;
  • 50 g of raisins and prunes;
  • 100 g of sugar;
  • 2.5 liters of filtered water.

Recipe step by step:

  1. Washed dried fruit is scalded with boiling water and laid in a multicooker bowl.
  2. Pour sugar and pour cold water.
  3. Include the program "Extinguishing" for 1 hour.
  4. The finished drink is left inside the slow cooker until completely cooled.

How to cook dried fruit compote for babies?

Such a drink can be added to the diet of a newborn after the introduction of fruit feeding. If compote is offered to a child for the first time, you need to cook it from any one type of dried fruit. Mixing the components is allowed only when the baby tries them separately.

Structure:

  • 2 liters of water for baby food;
  • 180 g of dried apples.

Order of preparation:

  1. Apples are completely cleaned of litter: washed under a tap, then soaked in water at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  2. Dried fruits are immersed in a pan with a liter of cold water.
  3. After the liquid boils, it is drained.
  4. The apples from the pan are transferred to a thermos, pour 0.5 liters of boiling water and left until the morning.
  5. The next day, the contents of the thermos are again transferred to the pan, 0.5 l of boiling water is added and boiled for 10 minutes. Compote for the baby is ready.

Important: even a high-quality dried fruit in a small child may be allergic, so you should enter the drink in the children's menu in small portions.

Stewed compote cooked from dried fruits can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The next day, such a drink only gets tastier.
