Drink history

Each drink has its own story. Most often, it is associated with some important or interesting event. But here everything happened completely by accident. The story itself is simple and instructive at the same time. It was many years ago when large airlines were just starting to make transatlantic flights. One day, due to adverse weather conditions, a plane bound for New York made an emergency landing at an airport near the Irish city of Foynes. At that time, it was through him that America had air links with Europe. It should be noted that at that time the liners were not heated, and people were forced to suffer from the cold throughout the many hours of flight. Frozen and displeased passengers headed to the restaurant in the hope of finding something warming there. Resourceful chef Joseph Sheridan suggested they drink a cup of hot coffee, adding a little whiskey. It was a truly historic moment. Satisfied passengers were pleasantly surprised by the warming effect of the unknown drink. When asked about the name of this unusual coffee, Sheridan answered shortly: "Irish." Very soon, his fame went far beyond the borders of the country. And today Irish coffee is very popular all over the world. And in memory of this event, on July 19, in Foynes, Coffee Day is annually celebrated, when barista from different countries come to the city to compete with each other in the art of making this legendary drink.
