In general, coffee in Germany appeared in the 17th century and was initially considered an aristocratic drink. Each country has its own unique recipe for coffee, in this case - in Bavarian.

Some people call it “coffee with an egg,” and this is not true, since this is a completely different dessert. Until a certain point, a drink with this name was practically no different from the others, but it was the Bavarians who were the first to try to add gelatin to it and get a coffee dessert.

The ingredients for Bavarian coffee are very simple, they can easily be found in any store. If you decide to make a cream dessert, then stock up with good ground coffee, eggs, sugar, gelatin and milk. Well and, of course, time and patience.

Classic Cream Recipe - Dessert

Despite the many different variations of this drink, it is recommended to start getting acquainted with it only with the classic recipe.

Let's look at how to make Bavarian coffee in the traditional way.

Components for the drink:

  • about 75 grams of sugar or powdered sugar;
  • two yolks;
  • 200 milliliters of milk;
  • 0.2 liters of strong brewed coffee;
  • a teaspoon of gelatin.

Cooking process:

  1. In a container, preferably enamelled, we place two yolks, we add sugar powder there and carefully rub the mass. Sugar can also be used, but powder is better, so the dessert will surely turn out without lumps.
  2. In a cup of 200 milliliters, we brew ground coffee. It must be very strong, like espresso.
  3. We heat the milk. It should be hot enough, but not boiling.
  4. Pour milk and coffee to the yolks, heat this mixture again, also, not bringing to a boil and stirring constantly. As soon as it becomes hot enough, we pour gelatin into it.
  5. We are waiting for it to completely dissolve, and pour the dessert into forms. The cooled cream is sent to the refrigerator and served after solidification.

Cooking Option

If you want something even more unusual and aromatic, then try to make coffee with the addition of various spices.

Ingredients for a drink:

  • 200 milliliters of water;
  • 2 tablespoons ground coffee;
  • 0.2 liters of milk;
  • cinnamon stick;
  • 80 grams of sugar;
  • two stars of star anise;
  • two yolks;
  • 15 grams of gelatin.

Cooking process:

  1. Pour the indicated amount of gelatin with 50 milliliters of water and leave it to swell for a while.
  2. Mix coffee with spices, fill with water that remains, and bring to a boil.
  3. After that, filter so that there is no coffee residue, combine with milk and thoroughly alter.
  4. Yolks with sugar should be put in a water bath, keep until crystals are completely dissolved.
  5. Pour coffee and milk there and continue to brew, constantly stirring and bringing to the desired density.
  6. Add gelatin to the cream, very thoroughly knead everything until smooth, pour into molds and remove for 3-4 hours in the refrigerator.

Cooking with vanilla

Ingredients for a drink:

  • 40 grams of sugar;
  • 0.5 grams of vanilla;
  • 200 milliliters of strong black coffee;
  • one yolk;
  • a teaspoon of gelatin;
  • 150 milliliters of milk;
  • 20 milliliters of rum - optional.

Cooking process:

  1. Pour sugar into an enameled container, drive in the yolk, mix thoroughly.
  2. Pour milk into it and put vanilla. Add coffee, bring the mixture to a hot, but not boiling, state.
  3. We fall asleep gelatin and, constantly stirring the contents, wait until it thickens.
  4. Pour in the rum, if you decide to cook with it, and whip the dessert for a minute before the formation of foam. Cool for a few hours and serve

Bavarian coffee with sour cream

Essential Ingredients:

  • 125 milliliters of strong coffee;
  • 0.5 liters of milk;
  • two tablespoons of gelatin;
  • 120 grams of powdered sugar;
  • five yolks;
  • 150 grams of sour cream.

Cooking process:

  1. Pour gelatin with a little water and put aside for a while, so that it swells.
  2. Beat icing sugar with yolks, combine with milk and heat.
  3. Then pour coffee and gelatin there, put the container in a water bath and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes thick, like a cream.
  4. While it has not yet become cold, put sour cream in it. It must be held in the refrigerator beforehand and beat with a mixer.
  5. We shift the dessert into the selected forms and put it in the cold for several hours.

Experienced Cooking Tips

As you can see, Bavarian coffee is easy to prepare, but in order to make it exactly, and even tasty and rich, it’s worth listening to some tips.

  1. Do not use instant coffee. To make the drink soft and aromatic, you need to take only the ground version. And even better - grains that you can grind yourself.
  2. Carefully separate the yolks from the proteins. If the white part gets into the drink, then most likely it will be spoiled, because when it is heated, the protein coagulates.
  3. Take powder instead of sugar. You can buy it ready-made or make it yourself. In this case, the dessert will come out without crispy sugar lumps.
  4. To add a brighter taste, put the additives in powder. For example, vanillin or cinnamon can be used.
  5. Buy only fresh and quality products. This is especially true for milk, and it should not be very greasy.
  6. Before serving dessert, it must be cooled. Usually it takes about 3-4 hours.
  7. Gelatin is only suitable as a powder. The leaf option for this coffee is not suitable.
