Cavinton is a drug for improving cerebral circulation. The medicine is available in two forms, each of which contains the active substance vinpocetine. It is synthesized from a plant alkaloid. Due to its special properties, the component is able to exert a corrective effect on the vessels of the brain.
Cavinton tablets also contain:
- anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide - enterosorbent, which has a white powdery appearance, is widely used in other drugs;
- magnesium stearate - a filler that helps to form a tablet;
- talc - is used as an external absorber of excess moisture;
- corn starch - used to improve the communication of the constituents;
- lactose monohydrate - improves palatability.
Each of the substances used is safe for human use.
Cavinton in ampoules is produced as a concentrate, with the help of which the composition for infusion is prepared. The drug must be added to saline, which can be used during the first three hours after preparation.
In addition to vinpocetine, includes:
- ascorbic and tartaric acid - as a catalyst in the process of metabolic recovery;
- sodium disulfite and sorbitol - are used as stabilizers, which are designed to maintain the therapeutic properties of the drug;
- benzyl alcohol - is needed in a solution for its disinfection;
- water.
Using the solution intramuscularly allows you to achieve a therapeutic effect faster than using Cavinton tablets.

Vinpocetine tablets

The action is based on a decrease in plasma viscosity by reducing the ability of platelets to combine. This does not affect other blood characteristics (blood pressure, heart rate). And also the medicinal substance suppresses the excessive excitability of the vestibular apparatus, which allows it to be used to reduce motion sickness. The list of side effects is significantly less than that of Cavinton, the cost of the course, depending on the country of origin, is 4–7 times lower.
Domestic substitutes in ampoules
Ampoule formulations are not as popular. Most often, analogues are cheaper than Cavinton. The most commonly prescribed is Vinpocetine, the cost of which in this form is four times lower.
Vinpocetine ampoules
The drug has a composition similar to Cavinton. The number of side effects is lower than during the use of tablets.
