Bed bugs are very resistant to many potent insecticides. These insects quite simply take root in an environment recently treated with chemical compounds. And if yesterday or a week ago they died from a certain remedy, then today a new generation is quite hardy withstanding repeated processing. Therefore, in stores constantly changing funds, manufacturers are improving the composition for the destruction of parasites. But in terms of effectiveness, “Karbofos” from bedbugs is still one of the leading drugs.

“Karbofos” from bedbugs: mechanism of action

The product contains an ether of a phosphorus- and sulfur-containing compound of an organic type called malathion. This substance is the basis of the whole tool.

Due to its relatively low toxicity to humans, the product is widely used to control bedbugs.

The effect of the substance is as follows: the agent covers the body of the insect, enters the body and violates the path of the nerve impulse, causing paralysis in the parasite.

So the same malathion acts. Entering into a reaction with intraorganismic oxidizing agents, it changes in structure to a similar, but stronger in terms of “toxicity,” malaoxin. According to research, the transformation reaction takes place only in the microorganism of parasitic insects, but cannot take place in plants and warm-blooded animals. Also, the substance breaks up very slowly, which is detrimental to a living small organism.

Important! In bedbugs that were not brought out from the first attempts, the ability to quickly break down the substance into less dangerous is developed.

Instructions for the use of "Karbofos" from bedbugs

Pure malathion is an oily substance, has no color, but has a bright unpleasant odor. For use, it is sold as a dark brown liquid.

How to breed Karbofos

The product, as a rule, is accompanied by instructions for use. Before use, you must read it.

According to the manufacturer’s recommendation, “Karbofos” should be diluted with water, and then, using a sprayer, spread over the surfaces of the room (furniture, objects). Especially carefully you need to work out places with narrow gaps: the joints of the panels between the skirting boards and walls, the recesses in furniture, shelves. Bed bugs love "secluded places", especially seams in textiles.

For processing, you can purchase a spray bottle and install it on a regular bottle from under any drink with a suitable neck.

Where you should not apply an insecticide:

  • bedding and items (blanket, pillows);
  • clothes;
  • human body.

Rules for handling bugs

Getting on the shell of bugs, the tool immediately begins a poisonous effect.

For effective processing, you must first comply with certain rules for the preparation of the premises:

  1. Remove all food, utensils, cutlery.
  2. Pack personal hygiene items in tight plastic bags (they must be hermetically sealed). You need to put them in a tightly closed place, for example, in a refrigerator
  3. Furniture, especially with textile cover, should be as open as possible for insecticide treatment.
  4. If there are pets at the time of disinfestation, they must be given to relatives or friends.

After processing, follow these guidelines:

  1. The clothes used during processing should be washed several times with the addition of baking soda, or (which is more reliable) discarded.
  2. Wash hands several times with soap - soap solution breaks down the poison.
  3. Leave the room for 4 - 5 hours to expose the substance.
  4. After the set time has passed, open all the windows and ventilate the apartment thoroughly so that the persistent smell disappears.
  5. If possible, wash all areas of furniture, walls and floors that have been treated and untreated, but open to sedimentation of insecticide fumes, with a solution of soap and soda. This is necessary so that the inhabitants of the house or apartment do not come into contact with the poison-coated surface.
  6. After three days, re-conduct the treatment.
  7. After 1.5 - 2 months, you can carry out a general cleaning of the room.

Is Karbofos harmful to humans and does it smell

The remedy for bedbugs has a fairly high degree of toxicity for people and pets. This indicator depends on the "purity" of the basic substance. Among other things, the poison has a toxic unpleasant odor.

Karbofos, like other parasite control products, is not safe for humans and pets.

It is also worthwhile to understand that a substance can accumulate in the body, but this happens on condition of very long use. The result is quite predictable - the effect of such substances adversely affects the state of internal organs and systems, disrupting their work. First of all, the nervous system suffers.

Important! The substance reacts with alkaline solutions.

Which is more effective, powder or solution

Powder and solution are equally effective in getting rid of parasites. The only inconvenience is determining the required amount of the drug for processing the room.

Powder and solution are equally effective in controlling bugs.

A remedy for bed parasites in several forms is available:

  • powder of 30 and 60 grams;
  • concentrate in ampoules of 5 and 10 ml;
  • and a ready-to-use diluted agent in cans.

The latter is convenient in that it is already ready for use, but, as a rule, the volume of cans is large enough, and the drug may remain.

Ampoules and powder are used for dilution in a certain amount of water, which is separately indicated in the instructions for use.

Advantages and disadvantages of an insecticide

The drug from bed bugs is a toxic substance, despite its effectiveness. However, with proper handling, it helps get rid of parasites, but at the same time it harms people and pets. If disinfection is not carried out correctly, the tenants of the room may suffer.

The product is water resistant.

The advantages of this method of destroying unsolicited "guests" include:

  1. Efficiency at all stages of insect development. As a rule, the first treatment brings a guaranteed result, but it is recommended to carry out a second one - for control.
  2. The substance retains its properties for another two months, preventing the pests from taking root again. It is not so much recommended to carry out general cleaning in the room.
  3. The tool is easy to use - the form in which it is sold is almost ready for use.
  4. Low cost compared to similar potent drugs.

Of the shortcomings, perhaps, only one can be noted, but quite weighty - the strongest toxic odor that can persist for several months in a row. Therefore, after processing, you need to thoroughly ventilate the room every day. In warm time, this is much easier to do, but in the cold first time, it is better for households to move to relatives and from time to time carry out airing at home.

Precautions for use

Observe safety precautions when in contact with toxic substances.

How to use Karbofos, so as not to harm yourself:

  • Wear rubber gloves to protect hands from poison.
  • Choose clothes that are as closed as possible from thick fabric.
  • Cover your face with a cotton-gauze bandage.
  • It is also recommended to use safety glasses that protect the upper half of the face well.

If you do not follow the rules, after contact with the substance an allergic reaction develops, and there is also a risk of getting severe poisoning by toxic fumes. In case of symptoms similar to poisoning, it is recommended to immediately call an ambulance and get recommendations for restoring the condition of the victim.
