Composition and form of release

There are two types: drops (alcohol solution) and dragees (tablets). It is generally accepted that it is safer for a woman expecting a child to take a second, since the drops contain alcohol. However, they are also prescribed, motivating this decision with too small a fraction of ethanol.
The composition of both forms is almost the same and differs only in the presence or absence of alcohol.
One tablet “Kanefron” consists of medicinal herbs, dried and powdered:
- centaury herbs (Herba Centaurii) - 18 mg;
- Lovage root (Radix Levistici) - 18 mg;
- rosemary leaves (Folia Rosmarini) - 18 mg.
As well as excipients:
- starch from corn;
- glucose syrup;
- calcium carbonate;
- lactose monohydrate;
- riboflavin;
- castor oil and some others.
If we talk about drops, then 100 g contains 29 g of an aqueous-alcoholic extract (ratio 1:16) of plant composition from the same herbs.Of the excipients, only purified water and 19 percent ethanol are present.
Thanks to its components, Kanefron is safe for pregnant women, and it does not harm the child at all gestation periods, even in the first trimester, when vital systems and organs of the future man are only being formed.
Why prescribe Kanefron tablets and drops during pregnancy
The main goal of the drug is the fight against diseases of the urinary system. In addition, it acts on the body in a complex way: it not only productively removes inflammation in the kidneys or bladder, but also saves the patient from pain and other unpleasant sensations provoked by an ailment. In addition, it has an antibacterial effect. For pregnant women, this is especially valuable, since they are not allowed to take antibiotics.

- if the expectant mother suffered from alcoholism (even the minimum of ethanol that is contained in the drops can change the metabolism and again provoke an uncontrollable craving for alcohol);
- when the patient is a diabetic (in a dragee, sugar syrup may be an excipient, but even sucrose or fructose should cause increased caution).
In addition, the drug causes the uterus to tone, therefore, with the threat of a miscarriage, it is contraindicated. The risk of this phenomenon is especially high if the expectant mother allows an overdose.
