It is not at all necessary to buy all kinds of expensive modern masses for sculpting in order to fully engage at home with a child. It is enough to learn how to make salt dough for crafts yourself. In the process of preparing a fragrant product, it is allowed to use the simplest and cheapest ingredients.

The basic recipe for salt dough for crafts

The basic recipe for salt dough involves only five ingredients. We can say with confidence that they will definitely be found at hand at every hostess.

Ingredients:

  • flour (necessarily - the highest grade!) and cool water - 1 glass each;
  • salt - 1/3 of a glass;
  • soda - 2 small. spoons;
  • vegetable oil (any) - 1 small. a spoon.

Cooking:

  1. To prepare such a mass, you need to take a spacious pan with a thick bottom. Then send all the flour with soda and salt to it at once. If lumps are noticeable in the mass, it is worth pouring it through a fine sieve.
  2. Pour the liquids stated in the recipe. They should not be warm.
  3. Mix well. At first it will seem that there is not enough moisture, but its amount should not be increased immediately. Gradually, the composition will be able to mix thoroughly.
  4. Send the container to a small fire. Warm contents for about 3-4 minutes.
  5. In the next step, dyes can be added if desired. This is an optional item. The quantity and methods of their use will be prompted by the instruction on the package. After placing these substances, everything again needs to be mixed vigorously.
  6. The readiness of the dough is determined by a metal spoon. When the composition starts pestering this cutlery, you can turn off the stove.
  7. Transfer the resulting product to a plate.

When the dough has cooled, you can knead it with your hands and start classes or games.

With the addition of potato starch

Another variation of the recipes discussed involves the use of potato starch. The latter does not replace flour, but is added with it. Both ingredients are used in equal proportions.

Ingredients:

  • high-quality wheat flour and potato starch - half a glass each;
  • medium-sized salt - 1 tbsp .;
  • purified water and very cold - ½ tbsp.

Cooking:

  1. First of all, you need to pour dry components into the general container, except for salt. It is advisable to do this through a sieve.
  2. Thoroughly mix all the ingredients with your hands right in the same bowl, gradually adding salt. Salt crystals should be evenly distributed throughout the mass.
  3. Gradually pour in cold water. After each serving it is good to combine the ingredients, trying to achieve maximum elasticity and uniformity.

The resulting salt dough for modeling can be immediately used for classes with the baby. If only very large salt turned out to be at home, which does not allow making the mass homogeneous, you just need to grind it first, for example, using a coffee grinder.

Colored mass for modeling

Usually, mothers call the absence of bright colors among the minuses of a homemade composition for sculpting. Purchased masses do not always have a juicy beautiful shade, which is especially popular with kids. But because of this insignificant minus, you definitely should not overpay. To eliminate it will allow the addition of paint. You can use even the most ordinary gouache.

Ingredients:

  • premium flour - 180-200 g;
  • fine, but not iodized salt - 180-200 g;
  • water - 120-125 ml;
  • gouache of different shades of your choice.

Cooking:

  1. Pour all the flour together with medium-sized salt into a container that is spacious and convenient for connecting the components.
  2. Pour ingredients at room temperature. The liquid should not be too cold or hot.
  3. Mix everything well. This is the most responsible and difficult stage. It will be necessary by eye to determine the ideal consistency of the test and, if necessary, change the amount of the declared ingredients to a greater or lesser extent. The composition should be cool, but elastic. If it will pour in, you need to pour in a little liquid or just mix the mass with wet hands. If it becomes excessively sticky and soft, you will need to add a little more flour with a pinch of salt.
  4. Roll the finished mixture into a neat ball and divide with a sharp knife into the number of pieces, counting on the connection with the selected shades of dyes.
  5. Each knead in the form of cakes, put a portion of paint in the middle. Its volume depends on the desired saturation of the shade of the color salt dough.
  6. Carefully close the workpieces according to the principle of dumplings. Separate the pieces individually with your fingers until the paint is evenly distributed over them.

Each resulting colored ball should be wrapped in a piece of cling film. Send all of them cool for "maturing" for 2-3 hours. Then you can start playing games.

Choux Salted Dough

According to this recipe, it turns out to be very soft, supple, not crumbling and not sticking to the hands. Children must do it exclusively with adults, since the process uses a gas or electric stove.

Ingredients:

  • flour of good quality - 1 tbsp .;
  • water - 1 tbsp .;
  • salt - ¼ st .;
  • food "lemon" - 2 small. spoons;
  • any vegetable oil - 1 tbsp. l .;
  • any food coloring.

Cooking:

  1. To make a mass for modeling at home according to such a recipe, the first thing you need to do is mix the dry ingredients and send them to the stewpan. Salt and lemon should be evenly distributed over the flour mass.
  2. Pour in the liquid ingredients - oil and water. Mix well. Immediately drip the selected dye. If you plan to make masses of different colors, then you need to decompose portions of the future dough into different stewpots or pans.
  3. Send dishes with all contents to the stove. Turn on medium heat. Warm up the mass, constantly working with a spatula. It is most convenient to use a wide wooden spoon.
  4. As a result, the composition in the container will turn into a ball. Gently push the dough with your fingers (you should act very carefully, since the mass is hot!). If it does not stick and has become quite dry, then the composition is completely ready for further use.
  5. It remains to lay the dough on a table covered in parchment, knead with your hands. Cover it with a bag or cling film and allow it to cool completely.
  6. Then you can start playing games with this composition for sculpting.

The finished mass is perfectly stored in the refrigerator for a long time.

The main thing is to observe one rule - before sending the dough to cool, you should always put it in a bag or film.

Otherwise, the mass will dry quickly.

Cooking with citric acid

Another interesting recipe involves the use of "lemons". The main components in it are also flour and water. As an additional element, only a little vegetable oil is taken. This cooking method is simple and inexpensive.

Ingredients:

  • flour of excellent quality - 2 tbsp .;
  • salt (small, but not iodized) - 1 tbsp .;
  • purified water - 2 tbsp .;
  • citric acid and sunflower oil (any) - 1 tbsp. l .;
  • dyes and sparkles - optional.

Cooking:

  1. It is very important to use high-quality flour of the highest grade. If the product does not meet this requirement, then the result can upset both adults and children. Dough from bad flour crumbles in your hands and is completely unsuitable for sculpting. It is impossible to make interesting and even figures out of it or your favorite children's crafts.
  2. Combine water with vegetable oil. Pour the mixture into the saucepan and bring to an active boil.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine all the loose ingredients stated in the recipe.
  4. Pour the liquid from the container into the dishes with the dry products placed. Add it to the bulk mass with a thin stream, constantly stirring the composition with a wide spoon.
  5. Initially, it will seem that the dough is too thin. But hot water will make the required metamorphosis - the mass will acquire the desired consistency, turning into a single lump.
  6. Put the resulting ball on a horizontal surface covered with parchment. Cool and knead the bun. If you plan to stain in different colors, the dough needs to be divided into several pieces. In each add the selected dye and sparkles.

Kids will really like such a bright, sparkling and completely safe material for sculpting a wide variety of figures. Making the latter is most convenient with the help of special molds for such creativity.

With water soluble adhesive

All the ingredients of the dough according to this recipe are standard, but PVA glue becomes additional to them.

Ingredients:

  • finely ground salt - 1 tbsp. l .;
  • premium flour - 2 tbsp .;
  • water - 1 tbsp .;
  • PVA glue - 1.5-2 st. l

Cooking:

  1. Place all dry ingredients in a spacious and convenient dish for working with dough.
  2. Dissolve glue in room temperature water.
  3. Combine both compounds in one bowl.
  4. Mix everything well.

Ready-made mass can be immediately used for developing activities.

Soft, soft dough recipe

A very soft, gentle composition is obtained if salt and flour are not used in the cooking process.

Ingredients:

  • potato starch - a full glass;
  • soda - the same amount;
  • water - half the indicated volume.

  1. The recipe for the test presented is executed on the stove, so a pan is useful.
  2. In the tank you need to combine bulk and products.
  3. Gradually pour in the liquid without stopping the intensive mixing of the composition.
  4. Boil the mass until a ball forms from it.

Remove the dough from the fire, put on a surface sprinkled with flour. Knead with clean hands.

How to do with glycerin

If you pour glycerin into the upcoming mass, then the fakes obtained from it will beautifully and very attractively shine.

Ingredients:

  • flour - 280-300 g;
  • ground salt - 180-200 g;
  • glycerin - 4 tbsp. l .;
  • dry glue for wallpaper - 2 tbsp. l .;
  • water - 120-125 ml.

Cooking:

  1. Combine dry components.
  2. Separately dilute the glue in the water for fixing the wallpaper. Pour in glycerin.
  3. Mix the compounds.

Knead a cool composition that can immediately be used for games and developmental activities. Preliminary drying is not required for it.
