  3. Combine the feijoa puree with honey and nuts, mix well until smooth and transfer to prepared jars. Close them with lids and put them in the refrigerator for storage.

With the addition of lemons for the winter

Feijoa with lemon slices is one of the best combinations. But honey for such jam will need a little more, since both products give a sour taste.

  • one lemon;
  • 250 grams of honey;
  • 0.6 kg feijoa.

Cooking process:

  1. Rinse the fruits, dry well, remove the dry ponytails.
  2. Cut the berries into small pieces and smooth them with a blender or combine. You can do this through a meat grinder, scrolling the mass several times.
  3. You can do the same with lemon. Or remove the skin from it and knead it with your hands, so that you get porridge.
  4. Combine feijoa with honey and lemon, mix. Place the mass in sterilized jars, cover them with lids and store in a cool place.

Do you peel?

As can be seen from many cooking recipes, feijoa is always used with the skin, so of course many people think about whether to peel?

By itself, it does not contain any harmful substances, rather, on the contrary, it is healthier than the pulp of the fetus, and is considered a very powerful antioxidant.

Another thing is that the peel has a slightly specific taste, which not everyone can like. Therefore, sometimes, if you cook a dish without heat treatment, it is recommended to clean it. But to do this or not, depends on everyone's personal choice. If you want to get the maximum benefit from the berries, it is better to eat them in “clothes”.

If you can’t endure the taste of the skin at all, you will have to remove it. But do not rush to throw out this valuable product. Try to dry it and put in tea. Feijoa peel will not only make the drink healthier (more about useful properties), but will also give it a special flavor.

When you want to make feijoa sauce, then you will definitely not need a peel in it. It is enough to kill the pulp, add a few ingredients and the dressing is ready.

How long can the workpiece be stored?

First of all, in order to keep the workpiece for a long time, you need to choose the appropriate fruits. They should be ripe and you need to buy them only in the season itself, that is, from the beginning of October to the end of November. Buying berries at another time, you risk not to find their beneficial properties.

  • Making a “live” mixture, without conducting heat treatment, it turns out to preserve all the vitamins, but the finished product will not be able to stand for too long. After cooking, the mass must be placed in jars washed with boiling water, tightly closed with lids and kept only in the refrigerator, where their shelf life should not exceed two months.
  • You can increase the period to six months by the freezing process, and honey will act as a natural preservative, contributing to long-term storage. But in this case, you will not be able to enjoy a delicious mixture at any time, because it will first have to be brought to room temperature.
  • If you want to keep fresh even longer, you have to cook jam.
