A classic American breakfast is not only the first morning meal itself, but also a specific menu of several dishes that are served only in the morning. At home, such breakfast is usually prepared only on Sundays, and on weekdays working people prefer to have breakfast in cafes or restaurants. He is very satisfying and high-calorie. Typically, these are potatoes, scrambled eggs with bacon or ham, as well as desserts in the form of pancakes and muffins.

Classic American Pancake Recipe

Thick pancakes are an integral part of a traditional American breakfast and the most popular dessert. They are served with maple and corn syrup, jam or melted chocolate. These are pancakes with a pleasant dense structure, the thickness of which can be up to 1 cm.

For cooking you will need:

  • chicken eggs - 2 pcs.;
  • flour - 350 g;
  • butter - 40 g;
  • milk - 0.5 l;
  • vanillin - 0.5 tsp;
  • baking powder (baking powder) - 1 tsp.

Cooking process:

  1. Pour baking powder, sugar and vanillin into flour, beat eggs.
  2. Pour in heated milk and melted butter a little while stirring.
  3. Prepare a frying pan without oil, heat it over medium heat.
  4. Pour portions in an even layer onto a skillet and fry on both sides.

American pancakes go well with various syrups and preserves, as well as fresh berries and fruits.

Sausage in corn batter on a stick

One of the traditional dishes of the United States, prepared specially for breakfast, is sausages in corn batter, called corndogs. The batter made with the addition of cornmeal is especially crispy and golden.

  • wheat and corn flour - 100 g each;
  • granulated sugar - 2 tbsp. l .;
  • baking powder - 1 tsp;

  • sausages - 6 pcs.;
  • Refined vegetable oil - 250 ml.

Cooking process:

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients, carefully pour in the milk, break the egg and mix thoroughly. If the batter is too thick, you can dilute it with additional milk.
  2. Heat oil in a deep bowl (you can use a deep fryer).
  3. Paste sausages on sticks, dip in batter and immediately dip in boiling oil. Keep until golden brown (about 3 - 4 minutes). Put on a napkin to reduce the amount of fat.

Such sausages are served with ketchup or barbecue sauce, they can be decorated with various snacks.

Cooking stuffed potatoes

An integral part of the American breakfast is a variety of potato dishes.

Usually it is a hash brown (grated fritters) or oven-baked potatoes with filling.

Stuffed Potato Ingredients:

  • large potatoes - 3 pcs.;
  • cheese - 50 g;
  • sour cream - 100 g;
  • bacon - 50 g;
  • vegetable oil - 3 tbsp. l .;
  • fresh greens - to taste.

Cooking process:

  1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly and bake in a peel for 35 - 40 minutes until soft.
  2. Cut each potato in half, remove the pulp and mix with sour cream, salt, herbs and finely chopped bacon.
  3. Sprinkle with cheese and bake another 10 - 15 minutes until cheese crust forms.

Such potatoes are served with creamy garlic sauce, and it can also be used as a tasty and versatile side dish.

American apple pie

Another traditional American breakfast recipe is apple pie. It is prepared from chopped dough with lots of toppings.

 

Ingredients:

  • wheat flour - 350 g;
  • butter - 150 g;
  • chilled water - 100 ml;
  • apples (medium size) - 5 pcs.;
  • granulated sugar - 200 g;
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp;
  • egg yolk - 1 pc.

Cooking:

  1. Grate the butter, pre-cooled, and grate it thoroughly with flour until a mass of crumbs is obtained.
  2. Pour in cold water little by little (the colder the better, ideally it should be icy) and knead the dense dough until it stops sticking to your hands.
  3. Wrap the dough in polyethylene and put in the refrigerator for about half an hour.
  4. Cut the apples into small cubes (about 1 cm), cover with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Allow to stand for about 5 minutes, so that the filling is saturated with aroma.
  5. Divide the dough into two parts, roll it thinly. With one part, line the bottom of the mold, lay the filling and cover with the second part. In the middle from above, make a cross-shaped incision for hot steam to escape. You can decorate the edge with a wicker of dough or curly cut.
  6. Put in a preheated oven for 40 - 45 minutes at 180 degrees.

As decoration for American pie, you can use powdered sugar or slices of fresh apples. Together with American pancakes, this dish is perfect for dessert.

Curd Muffins for Breakfast

Curd muffins are very well combined with tea or weak coffee, which is often served in the USA for breakfast.

If you reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe, you get a great light meal suitable for those on a diet.

Ingredients:

  • butter - 125 g;
  • cottage cheese - 200 g;
  • flour - 300 g;
  • chicken egg - 1 pc.;
  • sour cream - 1 tbsp. l .;
  • baking powder (baking powder) - 1 tsp;
  • sugar - 80 g.

Cooking:

  1. Place butter, cottage cheese, sour cream and eggs in a mixer. Grind to a homogeneous mass.
  2. Add in parts flour mixed with baking powder, kneading the dough well. It should become elastic and not sticky.
  3. Arrange the resulting dough into small cupcake tins and place them in a preheated oven. The cooking temperature should be 180 - 200 degrees.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes.

You can show imagination in decorating curd muffins using fondant of different colors, powdered sugar, chocolate chips or ground nuts. This dessert is the perfect complement to a traditional American breakfast.
